Our Mission

Detection and control of emerging contaminants in natural and engineered systems are crucial aspects of environmental management and public health. Emerging contaminants refer to substances that are not traditionally monitored or regulated, yet have the potential to cause adverse effects on ecosystems and human health. These contaminants can include a wide range of substances, such as Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pharmaceuticals, personal care products (PPCPs), industrial chemicals, and new classes of pollutants.

Our mission is to contribute to the development of cutting-edge innovative technologies and solutions for non-targeted analysis, which involves using advanced analytical techniques to identify unknown emerging contaminants in aqueous water. This can help discover new emerging contaminants that were previously unknown or overlooked. It's also important to note that addressing unknown emerging contaminants is a complex and evolving challenge. New compounds are constantly being developed, and their potential impacts are not always fully understood. Therefore, a multidisciplinary and adaptive approach is necessary to effectively detect and control these unknown contaminants in both natural and engineered systems.
