Dr. Yakamercan is a visitor scholar in Environmental Engineering at the University of North Dakota. She earned her bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Türkiye, in 2016. She received her master's and PhD degrees in Environmental Engineering from Bursa Technical University in 2020 and 2025, respectively.
She has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Bursa Technical University. In 2023, she conducted research as an exchange scholar in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Purdue University, United States.
Her research focuses on various wastewater treatment processes, including biological and electrochemical treatment technologies. She has also worked on risk assessment, water reuse, electrochemical algae harvesting, micropollutant removal, and life cycle assessment. Her current research focuses on applying advanced oxidation processes to regenerate PFAS-laden adsorbents as part of a project funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye in the Ersan Research Lab.
Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, she enjoys reading, participating in volunteer activities, and traveling.
